QUETTA: Customs Enforcement Quetta has seized huge quantity of smuggled Indian Gutka (Aadab Gutka) worth Rs23 million.

Entire Customs formation in Baluchistan was replaced recently and Abdul Qadir Memon is posted as Chief Collector Baluchistan, and Sami-ul-Haq is posted as Collector Enforcement Quetta. Following these postings, Customs Baluchistan has expedited their efforts against smuggling.

An official said serious efforts are being made to curb smuggling and Chief Collector as well as Collector Enforcement Quetta have advised the teams to make cases on daily basis.

Information was passed through Collector Sami-ul-Haq to Additional Collector Moeen Afzal that high value smuggled goods are dumped at a godown in Sattelite Town Quetta.

A raiding team was constituted by Moeen Afzal Additional Collector comprising of Shafi Ullah Assistant Collector (Enforcement), Shahzad Akhtar Superintendent (Enforcement), Asfandyar Inspector and Faraz Fayyaz Inspector.

The Custom team was assisted by Intelligence Bureau Quetta. After Counter verification of dumping place a raid was carried out. During the said operation from the said godown, 137 parcels containing Indian Gutka each parcel having weight of 25kg were recovered.

Contraband Goods were brought to Custom House, Quetta, and seized. Further investigation is underway.
