PESHAWAR: International Customs Day was celebrated on 26th January 2023, by all field formations of Customs located in the province of KP. Mr. Asim Ahmad, Chairman Federal Board of Revenue, was the chief guest on the occasion. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Faiz Ahmed Chadhar, Director General Intelligence and Investigation Customs, Mr. Aqeel Ahmad Siddiqui, Chief Commissioner RTO Peshawar, Mr. Ejaz Khan, CCPO Peshawar, and several diplomats.

The Chief Collector Customs (KP), Mr. Mohammad Saleem and Collector, Collectorate of Customs (Enforcement) Peshawar, Dr. Moin-Ud-Din Ahmad Wani welcomed the Chief Guest.

Proceedings of the day began with laying of floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada at Custom House, Peshawar, followed by Guard of Honor which was conducted by Collectorates of Customs Enforcement Peshawar and D.I.Khan. The Guard of Honor was inspected by the Chief Guest accompanied by Collector, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Peshawar. Afterwards, a graceful ceremony was held in the lawn of Custom House, Peshawar, attended by a large number of officers of the Collectorates/Directorates of all field formations of KP Customs. Clearing agents and representatives from trade bodies, and electronic and print media were also present.

Mr. Asim Ahmad, Chairman FBR and Chief Collector Customs (KP), Mr. Mohammad Saleem highlighted the theme dedicated this year by World Customs Organization, i.e. “Nurturing the Next Generation: Promoting a Culture of Knowledge-Sharing and Professional Pride in Customs.” The Chief Guest also highlighted the significance, role, and contribution of Customs to the national economy in terms of revenue collection, prevention of smuggling, protection of local industry, as well as enforcement of safe goods for public health. In the last, Honorable Chief Guest awarded Certifications of Merit to outstanding Officers/Officials of all field formations of KP Customs in recognition of their meritorious services. Similarly, shields and mementos were given to the Chief Guest, Chairman FBR. Director General Intelligence and Investigation Customs was also presented with a shield and memento.

This was indeed a unique opportunity where the Chief Guest, Chief Collector (KP), and Collector Enforcement, Peshawar shared their common vision, views, and ideas on working together for the development of the country in general and the province in particular.
