KARACHI: Department of Plant Protection intimidated Customs Intelligence & Investigation Karachi that M/s. Agrow Mark, Lahore filed Goods Declaration in connection with the import and clearance of a consignment comprising Chlorpyrifos 97 (Active Ingredients for Pesticides) lying at SAPT.

Representative samples from the consignment for chemical analysis were sent Federal Pesticide Testing and Reference Laboratory, Department of Plant Protection.

The Chemist Department of Plant Protection Karachi reported the consignment contains Chlorpyrifos   79.60% (w/w) as against the declaration of 97% and has been declared as sub-standard thus an offence under the Agriculture Pesticide Ordinance/Act 1971.

From the close scrutiny of Goods Declaration and other import documents it transpired that the consignment was shipped by M/s Shandong Weifung Rainbow Chemical Co Ltd., China to M/s Agrow Mark.

Prior to the shipment/ export of the consignment Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate coupled with Test Report was issued by M/s Technology Centre of Jinling Customs, China whereby confirmed the declared description of the consignment and other constituent of the chemical.

However, from the Test Report issued by Federal Pesticides Testing and Reference Laboratory, Department of Plant Protection, it is established without of any iota of doubt that M/s Agrow Mark imported substandard and inferior quality product under the cover of manipulated import documents.

Therefore, on the instructions of Director Saqif Saeed and Gulam Nabi Kamboh, the impugned consignment along with shipping import documents liable to confiscation has been seized.
