KARACHI: Muhammad Ashraf son of Feroz Ahmed and Rizwan Khan son of Lal Khan were admitted to pre-arrest bail against a solvent surety of rupees 200,000 each and Personal Bond in the Like Amount by Special Customs Court Judge Mrs Sadaf Asif.

Rayan Zia advocate appeared for the accused facing FIR WEB 00/10/Exm-PQ/2019 pertaining to alleged attempt of smuggling into Pakistan fire works restricted under Import Policy Order 2016. The crime was detected on information received by Collector Customs Port Muhammad Bin Qasim.

M/s Abar Traders through his clearing agent M/s A.R Logistics filed the Goods Declaration at Port Qasim for import of assorted toys and fun fair items. However, upon detail examination, fireworks and firework cracker guns were found willfully concealed within the cartons of assorted toys.

The explosives/firecrackers are restricted item as per Import Policy Order and prone to smuggling under section 2 (s) of the Customs Act 1969. Accordingly, the Collectorate has seized the consignment and lodged an FIR. Further investigations are underway.

The court granting pre-arrest bail fixed Dec 09 for next hearing.
