KARACHI: A division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Syed Saeed-uddin Nasir on Friday issued notice to the custom officials including Director General Valuation, Collector Customs East, West for Oct 14 in a petition filed by Messrs Ceramics and Imperial Trading Corporation.
The petitioner impugned Valuation Ruling (VR 874 of 2016) which according to the petitioner fixes custom duty and other taxes in an arbitrary manner, is on higher side and transforming profit into loss to importers. The petitioners also raised the issue of classification and said their consignment was declared and deemed to be assessed under PCT Heading 6908.9010 and 6907.9000 but custom officials are not accepting the same.
The bench after hearing initial arguments put Chairman FBR, Collector Customs, East and West on notice for Oct 14.
