KARACHI: MCC Exports Port Muhammad Bin Qasim has lodged an FIR against M/s Y.G Textile Industries.

On the directions of Ms. Saadia Sheeraz, Collector of Customs Exports Port Muhammad Bin Qasim, a recent exercise of post exportation audit was initiated by Mr. Ghulam Hyder Mahesar, Additional Collector and Syed Amin Haider Shah, Deputy Collector KEPZ.

During the post exportation audit of M/s. Y.G Textile Industries (Pvt.) Ltd.  (Manufacturing of bed sheets & comforters and textile made-up all kind of garments & textile made up products and allied products), it was observed that around 130 MT plastic material was procured by the unit but the same was neither exported nor sold internally till date.

Importantly, this quantity of 130 MT was not informed by the unit to Customs as required under Section 192 of the Customs Act. Accordingly, the unit was issued a demand notice on 29.05.2024 issued followed by a reminder/demand-cum-hearing notice dated 24.07.2024 with a final timeline to deposit duties/taxes by 31.07.2024.

The unit was provided full opportunity to explain their position and pay the evaded amount of duty/taxes and was also provided an opportunity of personal hearing on 26.07.2024 but no one appeared till 31.07.2024.

Consequently, upon non-response and passing of time, Customs officials were tasked to visit the unit to verify whether the 130 MT of plastic material was physically available at unit or otherwise.

A team headed by Moosa Solangi, Principal Appraiser KEPZ and Adnan Younas, Appraising Officer visited the unit and reported that no plastic material was found at the premises. Therefore, FIR was registered against the unit. Total value of offending goods is estimated at Rs. 46,694,529/-  whereas duties & taxes worked out to be Rs. Rs. 28,767,491/-. Following the FIR, entire recovery of Government duties & taxes has been made whereas the criminal proceedings are currently subjudice before the Special Judge Customs & Taxation.
