Karachi: Muhammad Nisar, a BS-20 officer of the Pakistan Customs Service (PCS), has raised serious allegations against the current Director General of Intelligence and Investigation (I&I), Hanjra. Nisar claims that Hanjra is shielding a corrupt mafia within Customs, including individuals such as Malik Mubeen and Zia Bhatti.

He expressed disappointment that, despite expectations for an honest appointment as DG I&I, Hanjra has continued the trend of corruption.

According to Nisar, the performance of Customs Intelligence has deteriorated since Hanjra’s appointment. He alleges that competent officers have been transferred, while those with dubious reputations have been installed in key positions.

However, Nisar noted that the directors within the I&I office remain honest, as Hanjra has not been able to shuffle them. Despite this, these directors lack the empowerment needed to counteract the influence of officers and officials who are allegedly supporting and facilitating corrupt activities under Hanjra’s protection.

Hanjra is a very good at project management and has delivered some good projects for Pakistan Customs. But, he has no operational experience or expertise in anti-smuggling, nor he has held any sensitive office. There was an impression that he was a competent officer, but he turned out to be different.
