In a swift operation, the Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) under the leadership of Deputy Collector Customs Enforcement, Muhammad Raza Naqvi, seized a significant quantity of smuggled betel nuts near the Honda Company’s warehouse in Site Industrial Area, Karachi.

The operation was initiated based on confidential information relayed from Collector Enforcement Karachi, Basit Abbasi, to Additional Collector Dawood Pirzado. The ASO team, comprising Preventive Officers Saqlain Chadhar and Syed Asif Raza, conducted a targeted raid resulting in the confiscation of 7515 kilograms of betel nuts. These illicit goods, valued at approximately 1.8 million rupees, were deemed harmful and had been smuggled into the country.

Following the successful raid, the seized betel nuts were promptly transferred to the ASO Enforcement warehouse for further investigation under the Customs Act. This operation is part of the ASO’s ongoing efforts to combat smuggling, with cases being made on a day-to-day basis. Warehouses and markets remain under scrutiny, and FIRs (First Information Reports) are lodged as necessary.

The ASO’s commitment to curbing illegal activities continues to yield positive results, safeguarding the nation’s economy and public health.
