MULTAN: The Customs Anti Smuggling teams in Multan, after getting strength from newly posted inspectors, have extended their anti-smuggling operations in DG Khan and other areas of the Collectorate.

As a result of their vigilance, they intercepted and detained two vehicles loaded with smuggled diesel oil at DG Khan-Quetta road near Sakhi Sarwar Check Post.

The first Vehicle Hino truck No C-1334 containing hidden tanks for smuggling of oil was intercepted near Sakhi Sarwar Check Post and was detained there, to be brought later to Multan. It has more than 15,000 litre smuggled diesel oil.

The second vehicle Hino Mazda truck Reg No NAE-827 containing approx. 10,000 liter smuggled diesel oil was detained at Airport Chowk, DG Khan.

The miscreant smugglers immediately attempted to block DG Khan Quetta Road to hinder shifting of this vehicle to Customs office. Therefore, Police was called after coordinating with higher officers and the vehicle was temporarily parked at Police Station Saddar DG khan.

The owners of the vehicles attempted to create law and order problem to influence government authorities to get their vehicles released. But their tactics failed due to firm response by Customs.

On the directives of Collector Muhammad Tahir and Additional Collector Irfan Shaukat, Assistant Collector Naeem Raza has deployed the Custom squads led by Inspectors Arshad Nadeem and Iqbal Hussain round the clock surveillance of the Quetta DG Khan road for effective anti-smuggling drive.
