KARACHI: Customs Export Intelligence Branch (EIB) has expanded the scope of investigations in the case of narcotics smuggling abroad by M/s Qtinity and identified another consignment of grey fabric exported to Rotterdam, Netherlands from MCC Exports Port Qasim, which contained heroine.
M/s Qtinity is owned by Humair Qureshi, son of Munir Qureshi (former Member Customs – FBR).
During the course of investigations under the supervision of EIB In-Charge Additional Collector Nawabzadi Aliya Kahnjee, Appraising Officer Meraj Channa (IO) submitted a report mentioning exporter M/s Qtinity had earlier exported a consignment of grey fabric dated 14.06.2022 from the Collectorate of Customs Exports Port Muhammad Bin Qasim to Rotterdam.
Hectic efforts were made to bring the container back to Pakistan and the shipping agency in this regard i.e M/s Sharaf Shipping Agency was approached so that the container is brought back without offloading the same at the destination.
The subject container arrived in Pakistan on 16.08.2022, and in order to conduct minute examination of the consignment, joint examination team was constituted.
A detailed and thorough examination found 396 rolls of 100% Cotton Grey Fabric loaded in the container. When the cones of the rolls were examined, the team found Diacetylmorphine Hydrogen Chloride i.e. Heroin.
Complete examination of the rolls resulted in recovery of 380 KGs of Heroin worth Rs3.8 billion. This successful recovery of huge quantity of narcotics, which if otherwise caught at the destination would have brought bad name to the country.
The record of exporter M/s Qtinity was minutely examined which revealed that almost all the exports of exporter Qtinity with the exception of one contained nacro substances.
Chief Collector Yaqoob Mako has advised the investigation team not to succumb to any pressure and has also sought details of the consignments cleared through MCC Port Qasim Export and AFU of Humair Qureshi’s company M/s Qtinity. Humair Qureshi is absconding.
