KARACHI: ASO of Customs Enforcement Karachi intercepted one bus having secret cavities at Moachko choke point, Karachi.
During examination, concealment was dismantled and smuggled goods including rolls of curtain cloth, foreign origin crushed betel nuts, smuggled tyres etc. were recovered. The driver of the said bus was arrested. The value of seizure is to the tune of Rs16.5 million approximately.
Chief Collector Enforcement South Yaqoob Mako is a very experienced officer with sufficient understanding of enforcement and intelligence.
Mako has issued directives to Collector Usman Bajwa and Additional Collector Muhammad Faisal to tighten the noose against smuggling. He also issued directives that crackdown should be launched on passenger buses transporting smuggled goods without taking any pressure.
It may be mentioned here that the passenger bus mafia is very strong, and they resort to violence and block RCD highway whenever any action is taken against them.
Mako also ordered a crackdown on Suzuki Pickup operating from Yousuf Goth distributing smuggled goods.
