KARACHI: Abdul Jabbar son of Abdul Saeed, an accused in alleged smuggling of Ice and Ketamine to Hong Kong was admitted to bail against a solvent surety of rupees 500,000 by a Control of Narcotic Substance Court (CNS Court), Karachi. The accused was represented by Mr Umar Farooq Advocate.

According to details a consignment of textile goods was loaded on vessel Xpress Bardsey which departed Karachi port omn 30-6-2021. The contrabands were intercepted and seized at Hong Kong. The seizure was reported to Pakistani Custom authorities and a FIR 04/2021 was registered under section 6/9 C,11,13, 15 of the CNS Act 1997 at PS OICT Collectorate of Customs (Exports) Port Muhammad Bin Qasim on 5-11-2021.

The applicant accused was an employee of a firm whose owner Shahid is absconding. He was charged of having knowledge of transportation of narcotics by his employer.

Umar Farooq Advocate representing the accused Abdul Jabbar contended that no specific role with reference to alleged seized consignment was assigned to the applicant.

He is just a lower cadre employee and unaware of any illegal act done by his employer. The prosecution/Investigator has failed to assign any role to him and allegation against him is of general nature, hence he is entitled to concession of bail, the counsel contended adding that it is a case of further evidence if any is found against his client.

Mr Irfan Meo, Presiding Officer of CNS Court after hearing detailed arguments admitted him to bail against solvent surety of rupees 500000 and Personal Bond in the like amount.
