KARACHI: Justice Faheem Ahmed Siddiqui of High Court of Sindh on Tuesday adjourned hearing in a bail application filed by one Mehmood Iqbal booked by Pakistan Customs on charge of smuggling electronic items and other goods in the garb of importing old used clothes.
Today advocate Ashiq Ali Anwar Rana filed power on behalf of ASO, Preventive Collectorate, Karachi and sought time for filing comments in the case
Earlier Special Customs Court rejected the bail plea of accused/application. The accused was booked in FIR 471 of 2019 registered under section 32, 32a, 156, 157 (2) and 159 of the Customs Act 1969. The consignment was destined for Sialkot Dry Port. The customs on suspicion held the consignment and subjected it to physical examination which revealed that consignment declared to be of old used clothes but found to be stuffed with electronic items and other miscellaneous goods of higher value.
The SHC single judge fixed Oct 02 as next date of hearing. Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate is representing the applicant/accused.
