PESHAWAR: Trading activities with Afghanistan resumed at Torkham border as the protesting clearing agents, traders and transporters ended their strike after successful negotiations with the authorities.

A trader said that all their demands were accepted and they were given assurance about redressal of their grievances regarding undue obstructions in clearance of goods at the border crossing.

It may be mentioned here that hundreds of vehicles loaded with export and import goods were stranded on both sides of the border due to the refusal of the clearing agents and traders to clear their consignments.

However, taking advantage of the situation, certain traders/transporters clandestinely two trucks of coal without payment of duty and taxes. Customs authorities traced the vehicles and seized the same.
