QUETTA: Customs Preventive Quetta has foiled a bid to smuggle large quantity of narcotics worth millions of rupees near Baleli check post. [the_ad id=”31605″]Information was received through Collector MCC Preventive Quetta Iftikhar Ahmed to the effect that sizeable quantity of narcotics will be smuggled in a light passenger vehicle via Chaman-Quetta routes.

Direction was passed to Additional Collector Jameel Baloch and Deputy Collector Asim Rehman to keep strict vigilance.

Subsequently, the staff of Customs Check Post Baleli intercepted a suspected Mitsubishi Pajero. On search , 110 packets of baked charras (Hashish) of 1000-grams each, opium 1900 grams packed in two cloth sacks and Morphine 4590 grams packed in five cloth sacks were recovered, which were concealed in specially designed cavities in the body of the said vehicles.

There was also small quantity of fresh apricot cartons loaded therein as a camouflage, while staff was busy in checking of said vehicle the driver escaped from the scene taking the advantage of darkness.

The staff of Baleli Customs took the possession of the said narcotics and vehicle.  FIR is being lodged against the unknown persons and further investigation in the matter is under way.
