KARACHI: Tariq Khosa, link judge for Special Customs Court Karachi on Monday admitted an accused in betel nuts smuggling case to bail against a solvent surety of rupees 200,000.

Muhammad Akram accused / applicant was arrested after a customs team arrested him after recovery of 5000 kilogram of betel nuts hidden beneath the vegetables. The accused was taken into custody by Sukkur Customs.

The same court also granted bail to one Taj Muhammad. According to prosecution, a customs team intercepted a vehicle of “Leopard Courier” and its search lead to the recovery of different goods including mobile phones, recievers etc. The custom court today admitted accused to bail against a solvent surety of rupees 300,000.

Heanring another bail plea filed by an accused Noor Muhammad, the bench granted bail against a solvent surety of rupees 200,000. The accused was arrested on charge of smuggling 15000 liters of Iranian diesel. The tanker was intercepted at Mochko police post by the custom officials.
