KARACHI: MCC Preventive Lahore has sized another consignment of smuggled mobile phones along with large quantity of mobile accessories worth Rs150 million.
This is second seizure of mobile phones in a week as another consignment of smuggled mobile phones was seized a couple of days back while being transported to Lahore from Peshawar.
On the directives of Collector Preventive Lahore Zulfiqar Yunus, Additional Collector Nayyar Shafique and Deputy Collector Moazzam Raza are keeping strict vigilance on the movement of smuggled goods from Peshawar.
After Quetta border was closed, influx smuggled goods from Peshawar has increased. MCC Preventive Lahore is further strengthening the intelligence network.
Moreover, Customs Intelligence & Investigation Lahore has made remarkable performance and seized large quantity of smuggled and non-duty paid goods in several operations.
Director Intelligence Lahore Rubab Sikandar is also keeping checks on movement of smuggled goods and Deputy Director Ali Zeb, who is a competent and reputed officer, has led the staff quite efficiently and seized huge quantity of smuggled goods in several operations.
Ali Zeb’s ASO team seized two Mazda trucks loaded with smuggled goods including auto parts, shoes, garments etc valuing Rs4.5 million. ASO Lahore also raided a train at railway station and detained different goods including watches, mobiles, computer parts, etc having value of Rs. 4.0 million.
Earlier, ASO Lahore detained a 40″ container. The physical examination led to recovery of foreign origin goods mainly LED TVs, Juicer Blender, Electronic Receiver, Electric Iron, shaving Razor, Tooth Brush, fabric valuing Rs 5.5 million.
ASO staff also detained a pickup van loaded with LED TVs 20 & 22 inch, LED TV Kits and DVD Players amounting to Rs1.5 million. Moreover, irani diesel non-duty paid cars and other miscellaneous goods worth hundreds of million were also seized during the month so far.
ASO Lahore also recovered Rs33.7 million fraudulently evaded by M/s Marush International.
