M. Waqar who belongs to In-Land Revenue was appointed Member Admin while Shahid Jatoi’s services were placed at the disposal of Federal Tax Ombudsman as Advisor.
Rehmatullah Wazir was appointed as Member IR, Policy; Shahid Asad appointed Member, Rural Development and Muhammad Irshad appointed Member, In Land Revenue, and Operations.
Ashraf Khan was Member IR, has been made Chairman WAPDA.
The changes were made in view of extra ordinary performance of the FBR under Tariq Bajwa who would be retiring in March 2016 on reaching superannuation.
The change was necessitated as his retirement as chairman FBR in March would have affected the preparation of annual budget for the new fiscal year. Tariq Bajwa deserved the elevation as he was honest and efficient and always achieved targets, sources in the FBR said adding that all appointments and transfers are purely on merit and aimed at increasing revenues.
Sources said that the reshuffling was also due to missing of targets by Inland Revenue in the outgoing quarter. It may be mentioned here that sales tax collection target was missed by Rs40 billion while Customs surpassed its targets by 27 percent. Notifications in this regard would be issued within 24 hours.
