Asif Mukatay and Muhammad Yousaf Mukatay, Directors of M/s Fairdeal Textiles, have obtained Bail before Arrest in a case filed against them by the Customs Post Clearance Audit (PCA). Their law firm, Franklin Law Associated, confirmed that the next hearing in the case is scheduled for July 31, 2023.

The PCA Karachi initiated legal action against M/s Fairdeal Textiles, alleging that the company had been involved in the misuse of the EFS (Export Facilitation Scheme) facility by selling exempt EFS goods and fabric in the local market.

Highly reputed officers, DG PCA Dr. Qadir Memon and Director PCA South Sheeraz Ahmed, have launched a comprehensive scrutiny of various imports, leading to the discovery of several irregularities. It is worth mentioning that the Customs PCA has recently begun filing First Information Reports (FIRs) against the accused for the first time. Previously, PCA had only issued contraventions on the offending imports.

The decision to file FIRs marks a significant shift in the approach of Customs PCA, aiming to establish more effective controls on imports and deter fraudulent activities. Thus far, PCA has lodged six FIRs against different importers involved in various cases.

This development is expected to enhance the regulatory oversight of imported goods and ensure compliance with the established procedures. The ongoing investigation and legal proceedings will shed further light on the alleged irregularities and determine the course of action to address any violations effectively.
