MULTAN: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Multan (I&I Multan) seized large quantity of smuggled goods and lodged an FIR against several persons including Ali Khan, Muhammad Sadiq Achakzai of M/s Sheheryar Goods Transport Company, Sanaullah Munshi and Muhammad Yousaf of M/s Yousaf Goods Transport Company.
On the instructions of Director General Customs Intelligence and Investigation-FBR Faiz Ahmed, efforts against smuggling have been expedited.
Information was received through the Director Intelligence and Investigation, Multan Muhammad Saeed Asad to Additional Director Muhammad Mumtaz Ali to effect that foreign origin tyres etc would be transported from Quetta to Lahore underneath/concealed the useless coal through a truck.
Acting upon the aforesaid information, the staff of Intelligence and Investigation-Customs, Multan under the supervision of Assistant Director Ali Tauqir intercepted the suspected truck at Rajapur Bypass, Khanewal Road, Multan.
The driver of the truck identified himself as Ali Khan S/o Jannat Khan produced a bilty issued by M/s Yousaf Goods Transport Company, mentioning Moulvi Kaleemullah (consignor) and Mohtram Ameer Sohail (consignee) for transportation of 33-Ton Coal along with other documents issued by M/s Sheheryar Goods Transport Company regarding transportation of Tyres & Skimmed Milk. Randari for dispatched of Minerals issued by M/s Nisar Coal Company, Quetta.
On cursory checking, apparently the truck was found loaded with foreign origin tyres and skimmed milk powder under concealment of useless local coal.
As the information was authentic, the truck alongwith loaded goods was brought in the S.W.H. of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation-Customs, Multan. Examination led to the recovery of foreign origin skimmed milk and tyres, which were concealed/underneath the useless local coal. The value of the smuggled goods is Rs15.6 million.
An FIR is lodged and investigations are underway.
