KARACHI: Justice Aftab Ahmed Gorar of High Court of Sindh on Friday allowed a time of fifteen days to Pakistan Customs to make a firm statement regarding alleged recovery of 106 Kilograms of Ice and Ketamine at Hong Kong.

The bench was seized with the hearing of a bail application filed by one Anees. Umer Farooq Advocate appearing forĀ  the applicant/accused submitted that the accused is neither an importer, clearing agent or else.

He also argued that no complaint was received by the Pakistan Customs and the case was made on the basis of hear-say. He said that alleged consignment was cleared from port of Pakistan and Hong Kong, was lying in a godown where a raid was allegedly conducted by local police three days after clearance from the port.

The bench asked from Special Public Prosecutor that what evidence has been collected. She replied that letters have been written to the Hong Kong authorities and officials of Consulate General of Pakistan and response is awaited.

The bench said that it may take too long and the applicant is behind the bars since nine months. The bench after hearing detailed arguments of counsel Umer Farooq advocate, afforded fifteen days time to the IO of Pakistan Customs as well as prosecution side to come up with the definite answer that from where the alleged contra band was recovered. The bench fixed Aug 29 as next date of hearing in the case.
