KARACHI: Sharjeel Jamal of UTrade Logistics has said that WeBOC system is a flop system, which is unable to stop smuggling and facilitate legitimate trade.
The risk management system of WeBOC is quite flawed, which has caused irreparable losses to the national exchequer. The profiling system is also faulty and any company can obtain green channel facility despite of tax evasion and smuggling cases against them.
Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL) had created this WeBOC system on the lines of earlier PaCCS system.
He said that PRAL had been found involved in several scams, but no action was ever taken.
Jamal said that an independent firm should conduct a comprehensive forensic audit of WeBOC system, which would certainly unearth huge scams to the tune of billions of rupees.
He said that government had several restrictions on various imports, but all these products are being smuggled through mis-declaration, misuse of green channel facility and other routes.
