KARACHI: Customs Intelligence & Investigation Karachi has dispatched a Notice u/s 171 of Customs Act 1969, to TCS Express & Logistics Private Limited company notifying transportation of smuggled mobile phones, tablets, USBs, watches in the delivery vehicles of TCS courier company.

I&I Karachi has also seized large quantity of smuggled iPhones, smart phones, tablets, USBs, memory cards and wrist watches etc., that were recovered from the delivery vehicles of TCS Courier company. An FIR is likely to be lodged on Monday against TCS Express & Logistics Private Limited.

Customs Intelligence & Investigation Karachi (I&I Karachi) has recovered large quantity of mobile phones, tablets and smartwatches from vehicles of TCS Courier Company.

Information was passed through Director I&I Karachi Khalil Yousafani to Additional Director Rana Tasleem regarding movement of smuggled goods in TCS Courier vehicles.

Deputy Director Amjad Rajper formed a team headed by Superintendent ASO Saeed Farooqui to catch the culprits.

Subsequently, vehicles of TCS Courier were intercepted at Saddar, near Star City Mall, Karachi. On search of the said vehicles, huge quantity of assorted smuggled electronic items i.e. Iphones including Iphone 13 Pro Max, cellular smartphones, tablets, USBs, memory cards and smartwatches etc. worth Rs.30 million were recovered.

An official said these mobiles belonged to just one party, but the deliveries were booked by several individuals to hoodwink Customs authorities. The official said TCS Express & Logistics booked these deliveries in violation of rules and regulations, hence the courier company was involved in smuggling.

The smugglers are now transporting smuggled goods in parts and parcels, as the organized smuggling was almost ended.
