QUETTA: In a significant move to curb smuggling activities, Pakistan Customs in Quetta executed a major anti-smuggling operation at the Ziarat Cross check-post, leading to the seizure of goods valued at approximately 441.5 million rupees. The operation, led by Preventive Officer Muhammad Khalid (Incharge FEU Ziarat Cross) and Inspector Khanesh Rathi, uncovered a diverse array of illicit items, including drugs.
The seizure included approximately 5.5 kilograms of ice (methamphetamine), which highlights a worrying trend of drug smuggling in the region. Additionally, customs officers confiscated 12 tons of valuable fabric, 490 bags of melamine powder, 1,000 rods of cigarettes, and nearly 1,000 cartons of mixed electronic items from a truck-trailer intercepted at the check-post. The estimated market value of these confiscated items totals around 441.5 million rupees.
