KARACHI: Notices were issued to Pakistan Customs and Deputy Attorney General Pakistan for 2.12.2024 by a custom appellate bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) in a petition filed by DHA Dolmon Lahore Private Limited while restraining custom authorities from encashing pay orders deposited as security.

The petition was filed through Franklin Law Associates and as per petitioner they have imported two generating sets on which exemption in respect of sale tax as provided under 12th Schedule was initially declined but later on request of petitioner goods were released upon securing Pay Orders for the differential amount of taxes pending a decision by FBR on the representation of the Petitioner.

The counsel from renowned law firm further submitted that after declining representation of the petitioner an assessment order was passed on 22.10.2024 against which the petitioner has filed an appeal. He expressed apprehension that Pay Orders lying with the respondent department will be encashed and therefore the department be restrained.

The bench after a detailed hearing restrained the customs department from encashment of Pay Orders while issuing notices to the Respondents for 2.12.2024.
