Karachi: Customs officials at Jinnah International Airport apprehended a passenger arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, on flight TG341. The passenger, identified as Muhammad Zubair, was found carrying 200 grams of marijuana concealed in a Paprika Potato snacks box.
The discovery was made during a routine luggage scan, which flagged Zubair’s baggage as suspicious. A subsequent physical search confirmed the presence of marijuana. Initial tests have verified the substance as cannabis.
In addition to the marijuana, customs officials recovered a variety of other items from Zubair’s luggage, including:
992 bottles of assorted medicine
42 kg of betel leaves
Assorted cosmetics
2 liquor bottles
12 beer cans
Collector Adeem Khan, Additional Collector Faisal Khan, and Deputy Collector Hammad have intensified vigilance and bolstered the intelligence network to prevent similar smuggling attempts in the future.
Zubair has been taken into custody for further interrogation to identify any accomplices. An FIR has been lodged, and legal proceedings are underway.
