KARACHI: In a significant move aligned with the Government of Pakistan’s stringent policy against smuggled goods, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi has successfully executed two major sea operations. Acting on credible intelligence received by Collector Enforcement Karachi, Basit Abbasi, along with Additional Collector Dawood Pirzado and Deputy Collector Raza Naqvi, the marine section of the Collectorate conducted these operations from September 17th to 20th, 2024.

The operations took place in the open sea near Churna Island and the Sapat area, where customs officials intercepted two wooden boats, Al-Muneeri-1 and Al-Habibi. These boats were found to be carrying a substantial quantity of smuggled High Speed Diesel (HSD), totaling 26,720 liters. The estimated market value of the seized HSD is approximately Rs 7 million.

In addition to the diesel, the boats themselves, valued at around Rs 16 million, were also confiscated. The total value of the seized goods, including the diesel and the boats, amounts to approximately Rs 23 million.

The seized goods have been taken into custody for further legal proceedings, marking a significant achievement in the ongoing efforts to curb smuggling activities in the region. This operation underscores the commitment of the Customs Enforcement authorities to uphold the law and protect the economic interests of the country.
