FAISALABAD: Customs Enforcement Sargodha has seized large quantity of smuggled goods worth Rs49.4 million from a warehouse in Toba Tek Singh. Seized smuggled goods include cigarettes, betel nut, skimmed milk, plstic shopping bags and Chinese salt.

A specific information was received through  Collector, Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Sargodha Mehreen Naseem that a huge quantity of Misc. foreign origin smuggled goods have been dumped / stored in the territorial jurisdiction of Collectorate of Enforcement, Sargodha. Subsequently, Deputy Collector Dr. Zohaib Sandhila formed a team comprising Inspect Khalid Gujjar and Inspector Fahad Virk. Staff of Customs ASO, Jhang and Faisalabad conducted a successful raid on 24.07.2024 at warehouse of Baba Shafi Cotton Factory located near Wali Feeds Pir Mehal Road, District Toba Tek Singh after obtaining search warrants and completion of all legal formalities and recovered of large quantity of smuggled goods.

Sarwar Bhola owner of warehouse appeared at the spot and informed the premise had been rented out to Mr. Rashid, The Gojra Goods Near Bypass Rajana Road, Pir Mehal. Subsequent to detention of goods, neither any person claimed the ownership, nor appeared before the office of seizing officer for provision of documents regarding legal import of detained goods. From the above facts, there is no doubt that owner failed to produce any legal documents regarding lawful possession/legal import of foreign origin goods.

The goods were seized and FIR is lodged and investigations are underway.
