KARACHI: Based on information provided by an intelligence agency regarding attempted smuggling of mobile phones, Deputy Collector JIAP Hammad Ahmed conducted a coordinated operation with his team under the command of Additional Collector JIAP Muhammad Faisal Khan.
Two passengers named Shehroz and Sohail Amin were arriving from Dubai on Fly Dubai Flight FZ-329. The suspects were closely monitored from the satellite till the baggage claim.
Upon arrival, the suspects were directed to the red channel. During luggage scanning, a significant number of phones were discovered concealed in their carry-on bags.
Suspects were taken for thorough body and luggage inspection, which resulted in the discovery of additional mobile phones.
The recovered items include 28 iPhone 14 (128 GB) mobile phones, 2 HP Victus laptops, 50 embroidered cotton suits, 40 bottles of Prime Water Drink (500ml). Total value of goods is approximately Rs6.451 million.
Goods have been seized and a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the passengers to ascertain the role of other abettors, facilitators etc.
