Karachi: In a significant operation against smuggled goods, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement in Karachi carried out a raid at Al Makkah Kubdani Askar-1 Filling Station on Hub River Road, Northern Bypass, Lucky Stop Yousuf Goth. Acting on credible intelligence, the authorities uncovered a clandestine network involved in smuggling foreign-origin Irani Diesel into Pakistan.

Approximately 32,100 liters of Irani Diesel were seized from the site. The fuel had been illicitly brought into the country, evading payment of leviable duties and taxes. During the operation, customs officials intercepted a Mazda vehicle and a Dumper vehicle that were transporting the smuggled diesel to the filling station. The dumper driver was caught red-handed in the act of delivering the fuel.

The implicated filling station will be sealed pending further investigation. The seized diesel, along with the two vehicles, has been transported to the Collectorate’s warehouse for detailed examination and legal proceedings. The estimated market value of the recovered quantity and vehicles is approximately Rs. 22,602,800. An FIR has been filed against the culprits in the Customs Court.

Leading the charge in this anti-smuggling campaign are Collector Enforcement Karachi Basit Abbasi and Additional Collector Dawood Pirzado. Deputy Collector Raza Naqvi and his team, including Superintendent Habibullah Mayo and Preventive Officer Saqlain Chaddhar, have played pivotal roles in the successful operation.

In a separate incident, Customs Enforcement staff stationed at the Mochko Check Post intercepted a truck trailer with registration number TLD 484 on June 27, 2024. Upon thorough examination, they discovered over 25,000 kilograms of smuggled fabric. The fabric types included Ladies Chiffon/Georgette Fabric, Polyster Ladies Fabric, Gents Suiting Fabric, and Burqa Fabric. The market value of the recovered goods and the truck trailer exceeds Rs. 70 million. An FIR has been lodged against the individuals involved.

These operations reflect the government’s commitment to curbing smuggling activities and ensuring compliance with customs regulations. The vigilant efforts of law enforcement personnel continue to safeguard the nation’s economic interests.
