In a pre-dawn operation, the Anti-smuggling Organisation (ASO) of the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Karachi executed a precise anti-narcotics operation in the remote region of Raees Ghot, Karachi. A staggering 474 slabs of hashish (Charas) cunningly concealed within chocolate ice cream packings were seized. Each slab, meticulously packed to mimic innocent treats, weighed approximately 1 kg, accounting for a total haul of 474 kgs. The weight included the wrapping but excluded the carton weight, showcasing the meticulousness of the illicit packaging. Preliminary assessments indicate a narcotic substance of high quality, identified as hashish/Charas pending confirmation through chemical testing.
The interception unfolded at 4:15 am on September 29, 2023, and was executed through a hot pursuit based on actionable intelligence. A Honda Civic Car, laden with the illicit hashish, was seized at the scene. However, the operation was not without challenges, as the ASO vehicle suffered a burst tire during the pursuit. Despite the setback, the ASO team maintained their pursuit. Regrettably, the sole occupant of the apprehended vehicle managed to escape into the darkness of the nearby bush forest, eluding capture. As of now, no arrests have been made, leaving the investigation in pursuit of the elusive individual who fled the scene.
An FIR has been lodged and investigations have been initiated. Diligent efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits, with a focus on tracing them through the Vehicle Registration record. Every effort is being made to ensure the perpetrators are brought to justice and the full extent of the illicit narcotics supply is busted.
