KARACHI: A bench of Custom Appellate Tribunal, Karachi comprising Member Judicial and Member Technical disposed of an appeal filed by Ahmad Noor Steel Furnace, Sheihkupura, Lahore challenging an Order in Original passed by Collector Adjudication I, Pakistan Customs.
According to details a contravention was reported electronically regarding misuse of Green Channel facility. The importer was charged for attempt to clear iron, steel cutting sheets remeltable at lower rate of duty and taxes.
The appellant was represented by Franklin Law Associates. The bench after hearing the sides disposing of the appeal held that imposition of fine and penalty against appellant is unjustified. It was further held that department has failed to prove that import documents are fake while no reason is given for action. The bench then modifying the Order in Original remitted the fine and penalty.
