KARACHI: The provisional release of a consignment of mobile phones in CKD was allowed by a custom Appellate bench of High Court of Sindh here on Tuesday.
Messer’s SSH Telecom (SMC) moved the court against levy of duty. Barrister Khalid Javed Khan appearing for the petitioner company questioned the imposition of levy.
He argued that levy is applicable on mobile phones while the petitioner brings in parts in CKD and assembles it here. He said that being manufacturer Customs cannot imposed levy.
The bench which has issued notices to respondent custom officials for today after detailed hearing allowed the provisional release of the consignment as prayed.
