KARACHI:The officials of Pakistan Customs at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP), Karachi seized food stuff, fruits, Sanitary Ware, Used Mobile Phones and branded shoes brought allegedly under the garb of bona fide passenger baggage.
The information regarding action on ground of violation of SRO 598 (1)/2022 was conveyed to the high-ups of Pakistan Customs. In a letter, Collector JIAP, Preventive Mr. Raza informed the higher officials of detention and seizure and while assuring that attempts to smuggle in the banned items will be thwarted, he asked his field officers to remain vigilant so that air travel may not be used for bringing in banned items in commercial quantity.
JIAP Customs thus has taken lead in enforcement of ban imposed by Federal government recently to maintain balance between imports and exports.
