KARACHI: The hearing of bail applications filed by three accused facing charge of smuggling Ketamine to USA was adjourned after counsel for the Pakistan Customs objected to the appearance of a counsel who is on penal of Pakistan Customs/Federal Board of Revenue.

Haider Shah S/o Ahmed Shah, Muhammad Haris S/o M Shafee and Muhammad Hamza S/o Saeed filed the bail applications.

As the pleas were taken up before Justice Omar Sial of High Court of Sindh, Khalid Rajpur advocate, counsel for Pakistan Customs said that Muhammad Zubair Qureshi Advocate representing an accused is on penal of the FBR and this is violation of Rules of Business.

The bench noted that Mr. Qureshi has also appeared in a number of cases despite he is on panel of FBR. The bench also expressed annoyance and adjourned the hearing of bail application of client of said lawyer.

The bench also declined to proceed with the bail pleas of accused in same matter.

Meanwhile the investigator of Pakistan Customs has filed interim charge sheet before the trial court and further investigation is underway.

According to details, a huge consignment of Ketamine was detected and confiscated enroute to USA. A number of accused including a Chinese national, allegedly master mind of the smuggling racket is absconding in the case of smuggling contra band worth billions of rupees.
