KARACHI: Directorate General of Transit Trade has inaugurated the Uzbekistan Transit Cargo Module on 3rd March in a ceremony held at Karachi Port.

The event was synchronized with the visit of Uzbek President. In the launching ceremony at SAPT today first ever consignment comprising of 4 containers of sugar was cleared under transit for Tashkent through Afghanistan.

This will shorten the trade route for Uzbekistan by up to 50% as compared to existing ports being used by this double landlocked country. This is a step further in actualizing Pakistan’s Transit potential and making it a gateway to CARs.

DG Transit Dr Iftikhar, Director Afghan Transit Engineer Habib, Additional Director Sadia Sheeraz and others were present on the occasion.

This would go a long way in promoting Pakistan’s trade to Central Asia.
