PESHAWAR: Customs Preventive Peshawar with the assistance of Peshawar Police seized four trucks loaded with smuggled goods at Barhbeer.
Information was passed through Collector Preventive Malik Kamran Azam Khan to Additional Collector Jan Bahadur that large quantity of smuggled goods would be transported to Peshawar from Baluchistan in the garb of dry fuits.
Deputy collector Mahmood Khattak formed a team led by Superintendent Amanullah and PRO Sohail to foil the attempt. The trucks were transporting miscellaneous smuggled goods in the garb of dry fruits.
The value of the seized goods is estimated to be in millions of rupees.
Sources said that security forces had sealed the KPK border with Afghanistan and all the flow of smuggled goods had shifted to Baluchistan. Although, Customs Baluchistan has tightened vigilance and increased strength at check posts, but due to shortage of resources, Customs was unable to completely control smuggling the province.
