KARACHI: Customs Intelligence and Investigation Karachi has lodged an FIR against persons to be ascertained later for smuggling foreign origin betel nut.
According to details, information was received regarding movement of foreign origin betel nut from Quetta to Karachi.
A team was formed led by Senior Intelligence Officer Muhamad Sadiq, which intercepted the suspected truck driven by one Mehboob Ali. Examination of the vehicle led to the recovery of foreign origin betel nut weighing 17.5 tons and 750 KGs of wheat straw.
The market value of betel nut is Rs14 million while the transporting vehicle is valued at Rs5.0 million.
An FIR is lodged and investigations are underway.
