QUETTA: Customs Intelligence & Investigation Quetta has seized large quantity of smuggled goods including betel nut and a non-custom-paid Toyota Land Cruiser worth Rs70 million.
Sami-ul-Haq has recently assumed the office of Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Quetta. And within five days of his assuming the office, Customs Intelligence Quetta made three different seizures involving goods worth Rs70 million.
I&I Quetta seized a Toyota Land Cruiser ZX V8 worth Rs18 million near Jalogir on Quetta Chaman Road. In another information based operation, I&I Quetta intercepted a Hino Truck near Kalat City on RCD highway and recovered miscellaneous smuggled goods. The value of the total seizure is Rs18.28 million.
In another operation, I&I Quetta intercepted a Hino Truck near Badrang Levies Check Post on RCD Highway and recovered large quantity of betel nut. The total value of the seizure is Rs33 million.
On the directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is pursuing a rigorous anti-smuggling policy. PM Imran Khan has issued directives that smuggled goods must not reach the markets so as to choke the cash flows of smugglers.
Director Sami-ul-Haq has advised Deputy Directors Fazle Shakoor and Dr. Zohaib and Inspector Hamid Habib to keep strict vigilance on the movement of smuggled goods. Due to the personal interest of Director Sami-ul-Haq, I&I Quetta made these seizures in only five days.
