LAHORE: The medical suppliers have hailed an interim order passed by a single judge of Lahore High Court in a writ petition filed by 45 petioner companies including A.S. Enterprises, Moon Enterprise and other challenging the vires of Medical Device Rules 2007.
The rules were enacted under Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan or DRAP Act 2012.
LHC order restrains DRAP from requiring applicant importers of medical devices and supplies from registration with DRAP , restrains from seizure, demanding N.O.C by customs for release of imported goods.
Sharjeel Jamal, one of the leading importers and expert in the field hailed the interim order and said in present day environment with COVID 19 or Corona Virus spreading fast in Pakistan the interim order will help in availability of life saving supplies. He believes that besides availability, the prices will also drop as a result. With lesser intervention of DRAP people will surely benefit, opined Sharjeel Jamal.
