KARACHI: The Anti Smuggling Organization (ASO) of MCC Preventive Karachi raided three warehouses in Bolton Market, Bandar road and recovered large quantity of smuggled cigarette.

Information was passed through collector Saquif Saeed to Additional Collector Haroon Malik regarding presence of smuggled goods in the above mentioned markets. A team under the supervision of Deputy collector Muhammad Asim Awan to conduct the raid

The raiding team led by Superintendent Jamal Zia raided three warehouses in Bolton Market and recovered huge quantity of assorted brand smuggled cigarettes including Benson n Hedges , Dunhill , Pine , King Edward Mini Cigars etc worth Rs80 million.

Two persons have been arrested. An Fir is lodged and investigations are underway.

Earlier, Collector Saquif Saeed had a meeting with the ASO team and advised the staff to strengthen their intelligence network and pursue the anti-smuggling drive in full force. He said no leniency on part of staff would be tolerated.

It may be mentioned here the ASO MCC Preventive has been quite efficient against smuggling. This is for the first time that Customs is coming this hard against smugglers.
