KARACHI: The Assessment Hall at MCC Appraisement West was sealed after two Appraising Officers tested positive for Corona virus.

These two officers Asif Jamil and Khizar Hayat had been transferred from KICT to MCC Appraisement West. On the directives of Collector, Assessment Hall has been sealed and is being sanitized and disinfected using chemicals provided by Reliance Petrochem.

An official said there was no coordinated between three collectorates of Appraisement South. MCC Appraisement West is keeping 100% presence of staff; MCC Appraisement East is keeping a roaster i.e. skeleton staff in shifts; while MCC Port Qasim gave IDs to staff at their homes.

It may be mentioned here one employee of Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) namely Arsalan was diagnosed with COVID-19 a month days ago, but KICT quietly removed him to quarantine without informing Customs authorities about the incident.

The terminal operator did not undertake any fumigation or sanitization at the terminal and resultantly, the virus has spread among Customs officers and officials and many others.

However, it is interesting to note that none of the virus victims developed any symptoms and all of them recovered from the virus. There has been no casualty due to the virus among Customs fraternity.
