KARACHI: Pakistan Customs was allowed to re-assess a consignment of PCB boards (motherboards of smartphones) while deciding a petition filed by G Five Mobile Private Limited.
Imran Iqbal advocate appearing for the petitioner company maintained that the petitioner imported PCB board and filed a GD declaring value and seeking assessment on the basis of Valuation Ruling. The importer declared a value of US $ 13 per kilogram but the Valuation department valued at US S 1 per piece, submitted Imran Iqbal advocate adding that customs have to assess the same as per ruling under section 25A.
Khalid Rajpar advocate counsel for Pakistan Customs opposed the contentions and said when VR is not in field, Assessing Officer has powers to assess the consignment on his own.
The counsel for petitioner then submitted that consignment be re-assessed so that issue is resolved. The counsel for respondents custom officials agreed for for a re-assessment after which the bench disposed of the petition directing re-assessment and release on securing differential amount between declared and assessed value.
