KARACHI: Pre-admission notice was issued in a petition filed by Mehboob Re-rolling Mills by a division bench of High Court of Sindh here on Friday.
The bench earlier heard the counsel for petitioner mills who submitted that Sales Tax Special Procedure Rules were repealed in June this year as the SRO was withdrawn by the FBR. The petitioner then fell into 17 per cent ST regime.
He further argued that due to technical problems, the claims for refund of ST could not be processed on automated system. This results in entire burden of ST borne by the Re-rollers which is damaging the business, the counsel contended praying the court to direct the respondent Inland Revenue department to look into the genuine problem faced by the petitioner and other companies as they have reached a point where they have to close down their business activities.
The bench after detailed hearing ordered issuance of notice to the respondents including Chairman FBR.
