KARACHI: Superintendent SIU Dost Muhammad has sought sufficient security to conduct joint examination of certain consignments at KEPZ, imported by a cartel involved in smuggling and money laundering.
In a letter to Director General Zahid Khokar, Director Irfan Jawaid, Dost Muhammad noted he had serious life threats from the cartel involved in his detected mega scam involving Money Laundering, Smuggling, Fiscal Fraud & Tax Evasion of billions of rupees.
The cartel includes the purported as well as actual importers of the 11 impugned consignments i.e. owners/partners/directors/ associates of M/s Zubair Steel, Karachi, M/s Muhammad Rizwan & Brothers, Karachi, M/s Steel Vision (Pvt) Ltd; KEPZ, M/s Royal Impex (Pvt) Ltd; KEPZ and Clearing Agent Muhammad Abdullah Sheikh etc.
Dost Muhammad noted that certain officers of Directorate of Customs Intelligence Karachi including DD-I&I Mr. Zohaib, ADD-I&I Mr. Ali Zaman Gardezi, Supdt-I&I Mr. Saud Hassan and IO-I&I Mr. Shabeih Haider etc. had teamed up with the accused and supporting the accused.
“Despite their utmost malafide rather criminal efforts, they could not get release order from the Honourable High Court yet. Now I have learnt through reliable sources that the cartel members, being frustrated, are planning to assaulting me to clean their way. Unfortunately, the concerned officers of the Directorate & FBR are not taking it serious despite my repeated requests made so far. Hence, lives & properties of myself as well as my family members are under acute danger as the Department does not seem to stand behind me who has performed extraordinary in the best national interest, ” Dost Muhammad noted.
With the support of DC Mr. Ali Ijaz, the accused culprits are again planning to gather a number of unconcerned persons at the examination sites to hamper the examination process besides harassing the Joint Team Members.
Despite his repeated requests, PA-ASO has confirmed that he has not yet been instructed by any officer to accompany Dost Muhammad for joint examination, besides armed ASO cover.
“Therefore, it is once again requested that PA-ASO may immediately be instructed to ensure that he himself accompanies me for the above mentioned job with armed ASO cover. He may also be instructed to ensure that no unconcerned person gathers at and around the examination sites,” Dost Muhammad said.
Fearing for his life and family, Dost Muhammad noted the above mentioned persons including I&I officers would be responsible for any untoward happening.
It may be mentioned here that recently a gang of smugglers, having strong links with senior officers, attacked and murdered Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos Sheikh.
