KARACHI: The investigations into the murder of Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos are progressing fast, and it has been known that the arrested accused Haji Sadiq Achakzai is an Afghanistan national, who had been using a forged Pakistani CNIC.

It may be mentioned here that on the request of Inspector General of Police Baluchistan, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the murder of Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos.

The SIT includes SSP Investigation Quetta, representatives of CTD and Crime Branch Quetta; representatives of ISI, MI, IB; representatives of Customs department and senior public prosecutor.

Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos was martyred in the line of duty and deserves gallantry award as well as a compensation package for his bereaved family. An official said the sacrifices of Customs officers and officials must be acknowledged to build their confidence and morale.

An FIR has been lodged against Haji Abdul Sadiq Achakzai and his associates Tofan Khan and Ahmad Shah under relevant sections for murder and terrorism, as the accused are prime suspects of the murder of Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos Sheikh and Sepoy Liaquat Banglalzai.

Haji Abdul Sadiq Achakzai is said to be a very influential smugglers who has a well established network across the country.

Shipments of smuggled goods of these three persons were not stopped or even checked, but Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos Sheikh took no pressure and operated efficiently and seized several consignments of these three persons.

Sources said the investigation team has also detained Inspector Ghulam Hussain Khoso who was along Deputy Collector Abdul Qudoos when he was attacked. However, Ghulam Hussain has refused to cooperate fearing his life.
