KARACHI: The officials of Pakistan Customs CIU, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim were restrained from taking any coercive action against Shahzad Industries.

The bench was hearing a constitutional petition filed by Shahzad Industries seeking directions to custom officials for release of their fresh consignments. Umer Farooq Advocate appearing for the petitioner/importer maintained that the order passed on 25-4-2019 was not being complied with by the respondents FIR’s are being lodged while sitting in offices and in every second case we are observing this situation. Lodging an FIR appears to be a joke, the bench said.

The bench on the request of the counsel for petitioner ordered respondents to carry out an inspection of the manufacturing unity within a week while associating the petitioner with such inspection.

The bench also asked the respondents to file a compliance report by June 13, next date of hearing.
