KARACHI: Justice MuhammadAli Mazhar of High Court of Sindh (SHC) hearing a suit filed by Prime Packages against FBR, Collector of Customs, Port Muhammad Bin Qasim ordered release of the consignment on payment of duty, taxes etc.
According to Ms Dil Khurram Shaheen advocate, counsel for plainitiff, they imported a consignment of pvc plastic. The custom officials in view of an order by the supreme court of Pakistan said consignment could not be released a laboratory report is awaited.
The counsel for plaintiff submitted that due to unnecessary lab report, the clearance of consignment was delayed by 60-90 days overburdening the importer of charges by shipping companies and demurrage.
The bench today observed that delay was not on the part of the importer who in the circumstance shall not suffer. The bench with above observation ordered defendants to release the item and clear their goods declaration.
The bench adjourned further proceedings till Jan 11.
