KARACHI: Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) of MCC Preventive Karachi has foiled a bid to transport smuggled contraband gutka (chewing tobacco) and betel nut, and seized goods worth Rs6.443 million.
On credible tip off through Deputy Collector ASO Muhammad Faisal, ASO staff intercepted a passenger bus (Shandar Royal Cruiser) at Northern by pass near Super Highway Karachi, and recovered/seized 3,880 packets (392,840 pouches, 785 Kgs) of assorted Indian gutka worth
Rs5.89 million and betel nuts (2,070 kgs) worth Rs0.55 million. The tentative value of seized bus is Rs7.0 million. Further investigations are underway.
