KARACHI: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence & Investigation Peshawar has foiled a bid to smuggle heroin powder as under instructions from the Director Intelligence and Investigation Peshawar Arslan Subuctageen, the campaign against smuggling of narcotics has been geared up.
An information was received to the effect that a sizeable quantity of narcotics would be smuggled from tribal area towards down country in a Suzuki Mehran Car. In pursuance of the said information, the staff of Directorate of Intelligence & Investigation Peshawar held a secret naka near Pabbi Bazar, District Nowshera.
The suspected vehicle was spotted coming from Peshawar side. It was signaled to stop but the driver, ignored the signal and sped away. On some distance, the said vehicle was found parked on road side and the driver managed to escape by taking advantage of darkness. The vehicle was searched on spot by the staff of drug cell and found contraband (Heroin Powder) tactfully concealed in secret cavities, of the back seat of the vehicle.
The vehicle was then brought to the premises of the Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation Peshawar where thorough search led to the recovery of 08 Kgs Heroin Powder (gross), which was seized along with carrier vehicle. The estimated value of the aforementioned seized narcotics and vehicle is around Rs4.6 million (Narcotics Rs. 4.0 million and vehicle Rs 0.6 million).
An FIR has been lodged and further investigation is underway.
